Flying Armadillo Disc Golf Club is a local San Marcos disc golf course. For those of you who don´t know what disc golf is, it´s exactly what it sounds like, golf but with discs. The rules, goals, and difficulty are the same. Now even though that last can be argued the first two cant. As for the property itself, its beautiful and well kept compared to other parks and or outdoor activities around the San Marcos area. What makes it different is its well groomed and meticulous lay out, not to mention the great pieces of wood an metal artwork spread out across the property. When it comes to the actual game of disc golf, its easily one of the more challenging courses I have ever played. Its tight turns and heavily wooded holes make it a difficult but rewarding experience. If you are new to the game they have the equivalent of a putt putt course on the property as well. Its a great way to play the game and not feel overwhelmed with the difficulty of the larger course. As well as promote fun and interesting ways to throw a disc with fun and weird obstacles. For example, they have a lighthouse you must throw a disc up and into its light. Speaking of light if you run out they also accommodate to playing in the dark. With either lights on the baskets or very bright reflective tape sold in their pro-shop. That shop is a perk in itself, from my understanding its the only store in San Marcos that sells a wide variety of discs. There is a small entrance fee of five dollars but in turn you get all day access to the two courses and even some fun games on the side. Which include; a hook and ring game, a pool table, giant jenga, corn hole, and even a Bocce ball course! I would absolutely say its worth the five dollar entry, and if you find you love it they have a membership that costs one hundred. Which covers all green fees (i.e. five dollar entry fee) and even gives access to an end of year barbecue the owners throw every December. If you ever find yourself wanting to enjoy nature and play a fun game while doing it please try out Flying Armadillo, you will not regret it!
